Kaufman's Guia de Campo, Aves delivered to El Cielo, Mexico We received this e-mail and picture from a friend who helped deliver two copies of the Kaufman Spanish Field Guide to Birds to the El Cielo Biosphere Reserve in Tamaulipas, Mexico. It was their idea to hold up our bookmark!
Hi Sean Smith, Bruce McWhirter, Mel Pineda, and Roy Rodriguez (me)
took a quick trip down to El Cielo near Gomez Farias, Tamaulipas. Mel has been
working with the municipalities of Llera, Ocampo, and Mante to expand nature
tourism ventures in those cities. This year, Birder's Exchange sent down a scope, seven backpacks, two binoculars,
and 20 copies of the Kaufman book in Spanish. This supplements the seven
binoculars and a scope sent last year. Seven of the Kaufman books have been
delivered to Alta Cima. Five were received in time for our trip, and two were
donated by Naturally Curious. The Mexicans LOVED the book! They are very
impressed by the books and were thrilled to receive them. Mel will be
delivering the rest of the books in June, since we were all in Mexico when the
books arrived in Texas.
