Thayer Birding Software for the Mac

Now Leopard/Intel Compatible.

Here is what one special customer reports about going online to get the Leopard Compatible upgrade:

This email was sent to us 12/10/07, the day after a long time customer/friend bought the Mac version.  He is one of the computer people at UT-Austin.

Greetings, Sandy & Randy

Again, it was really great to see you both again last night.

I just want to bring something to your attention re: the Mac version 
of the Thayer Birding Software's Guide to Birds of North America.  
Even though there is a label on the cover of the product that 
indicates it is "Intel Compatible", it is *not* compatible with Macs 
running the new system software 10.5 (Leopard).  I found a note on the 
Thayer website that reads:  "A free update will soon be available for 
those running version 10.4.11 or 10.5 (Leopard)."

I called their customer service desk this morning & they indicated 
that getting this update is a high priority for them.  The woman with 
whom I spoke indicated they were somewhat dismayed after all the work 
they put into getting the Mac version out that it threw a monkey 
wrench into things when Apple changed their operating system.

I may have been one of the first to call them about this as the 
customer service rep indicated she needed to start a list of users who 
have this problem.  They took my contact information and indicated 
they would get in touch with me as soon as a Mac 10.5 OS version was 
available.

Just thought you might want to be aware of this in case you get any 
inquiries/orders/questions for/on this product.

I am a little disappointed as I was ready to start playing with the 
new software last night, but, as I told the customer service rep, I 
have waited this long for a Mac version ... I think I can wait a 
little while longer -- especially as it seems like this is really a 
high priority at Thayer.
